Bell City R-II Schools

One Campus, One Community

The Bond team helped Bell City R-II Schools build the case — and the plan — for transforming its rural K-12 campus.

In rural southeastern Missouri, the Bell City R-II School District's K-12 campus sprawls across four disconnected buildings — leaving elementary and middle school students to cross a public street just to reach the cafeteria.

To chart a path forward, the district engaged Bond Architects to conduct a facility assessment and space needs analysis, then develop a master plan and schematic design that envisioned a single, connected K-12 facility.

Bond supported a community outreach campaign with professional renderings, detailed cost estimates, and educational materials to provide local voters with a clear understanding of how the improvements would enhance student safety and operational efficiency. This targeted effort paid off with the passage of Proposition C.U.B.S. in April 2025 — the community's first property tax increase in nearly 20 years.

Expanding academic horizons

Beyond unifying the student body, the new facility expands academic and career opportunities. The design includes an expanded agricultural shop and tool suite alongside a dedicated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) lab. These spaces directly support the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, providing students with hands-on vocational training tailored to modern career demands.

The layout also reserves dedicated outdoor space for a future greenhouse to enrich the agricultural and STEM curricula, ensuring the campus can easily support expanded educational programming for years to come.
