Bond Architects, Inc. (Design Architect) has partnered with Hastings+Chivetta (Architect of Record) to transform Ladue Horton Watkins High School. After a thorough review of the existing space and needs of the school, it was determined that a large 127,000 SF three-story classroom addition with a focus on expanded STEM classrooms and a new Media Center, as well as a single story 13,500 SF Music Addition, was needed. The review also determined the need for an extensive 128,700 SF renovation of the existing classrooms, cafeteria and former library.
Both additions and the impactful renovation will enhance the school and bring it into the 21st century. Key focus areas of the design include bringing daylight into the classrooms and public areas of the building, creating classrooms correctly sized for their purpose, organizing departments with logical adjacencies, as well as wayfinding and better circulation around the building.
