CAPE GIRARDEAU PUBLIC SCHOOLS - JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

At Cape Girardeau Junior High School, the demolition of the central section was extremely surgical because it was adjacent to occupied spaces on both sides, and the new construction tied into existing wings. This project enabled the facility to reorient the primary entrance to the south side of the building, as well as redevelop the administrative suite adjacent to the new south entrance.

As part of this project, the building’s new entrance off the circle drive brings a modern presence to welcome students, faculty and guests. Natural daylight is a key feature in the new lobby through expansive clerestory windows. On the first floor, the new gymnasium features abundant space for extracurricular activities, and the administrative suite, along with a secure vestibule and transaction window, bring the latest in safety features and innovation for staff. New science labs on the lower level enhance the way students learn and interact.
